What is encaustic painting?  It's one of the ancient arts and uses beeswax among other things to create a beautiful soft image.  If you've ever seen these beautiful paintings and wondered how it was done, now is your opportunity to learn this technique!

Artist Julia Bray will spend two hours with you in a small hands' on workshop while you complete a 5"x7" painting.  She will share her techniques for the finishes she creates and show you the basics.  Encaustic techniques are a great base for building up a variety of mixed media effects too for those wanting to give their work a boost!

Julia is an abstract artist, this introduction to encaustic painting will be based on abstract effects.  She will teach how to use inks as a base for building paintings which are more representative but still loose.

This class is suitable for beginners.

Held at 209 Franklin St main studio Monday February 10 from 6-8PM.  Cost is $35 + $15 Materials Fee for a total of $60.
